In his quest to elevate the Scandinavian kitchen to the level of the Scandinavian furniture and lighting classics of the 1950s, Danish designer Carsten Michelsen designed the now-classic Form 1 kitchen in 1982.
With partner Leif Glintborg, they also created Multiform, the company to make the kitchens, in central Jutland area of Denmark in the tiny town of Kibæk.
Form 1 has been followed by numerous re-iterations of the luxurious, classic Scandinavian kitchen with the latest, Form 45, introduced at Biennale Interieur 2016 in Kortrijk, Belgium
Form 45 carries all of the hallmarks of Multiform kitchens – the highest quality materials, classic lines, razor-sharp edges – but the distinctive feature of Form 45 is the combination of natural oak with brass.
The exquisite detailing, with all edges beveled with diagonal cuts at 45 degrees, complements the massively powerful overall feel of a floating brass kitchen island. Tuija Seipell.
