After operating a pop-up in Downtown Los Angeles’ Art District’s Row DTLA for a while, chocolatier Christine Sull Sarioz opened her first Milla Chocolates store this fall at 9414 Venice Boulevard in Culver City, California.
Sarioz’s background in the New York art world at Sotheby’s and The Whitney shows in the visual perfection of the entire Milla concept from the precise shapes of the treats to packaging and store design.
Moving to LA from New York, she spent three years learning everything about chocolate. Clearly, her learning has paid off as the International Chocolate Salon awarded her a Five Star Awards Master Chocolatier title in 2017. She has also won awards for several individual pieces as well.
With her husband and creative director Goktug Sarioz, she offers perfectly formed, geometric-shaped, hand-crafted chocolates at Milla Chocolates Coffee & Confections. The treats are made generally of organic or single-origin chocolates right at the store, behind a transparent wall.
The polished, minimalist décor and the matte black packaging with gold detailing, exude luxury and attention to detail.
The boutique serves Coffee Manufactory coffee and loose-leaf teas from Spirit Tea. Tuija Seipell.
