Xu London

We are perhaps getting close to a saturation point with restaurant interiors that feature dark wood, rounded corners and pink upholstery in a slightly-prissy-yet-masculine 1930s movie vibe, but we are not quite there yet.

So, here is Xu in London, designed by Shayne Brady and Emily Williams of the BradyWilliams Studio, the designers behind such other London eateries as Fischer’s and Wright Brothers.

The 68-seat Xu offers Taiwanese cuisine and features a cocktail bar as well as a dedicated tea bar. The rounded pink-marble bar with its round pink seating is an effective decorative focal point in the otherwise subdued interior.

Xu is the first upmarket concept by Shing Tat Chung, her husband, chef Erchen Chang, and her sister, Wai Ting Chung, the founders of Bao London that has turned a street food stand into three outlets, all serving Taiwanese cuisine. Xu is named after Erchen Chang’s late grandfather.
